A transformer is an electrical switching device that transfers electrical energy from one end to another by means of Electromagnetic induction, keeping the power and frequency unchanged.
Types of Transformers
The procedure is divided into two:
1. Step Up
2. Step Down
1. Step Up
2. Step Down
The structure of the transformer core is divided into three parts
1. Core Type
2. Shell Type
3. Spiral core type
Main parts of transformer:
1. Core
2. Primary welding
3. Secondary welding
4. Conservator tank
5. Buchholz relay
6. Tank
7. Breather
8. Bushings
9. Insulation oil
10. Silica gel
Primary welding : The transformer input coil is called primary coil. The function of primary coil is to create electromagnetic flux and attract the secondary coil. As a result power is transferred to the secondary coil.
Secondary welding : The output coil of the transformer is called the secondary coil.which converts the magnetic flux generated in the primary coil into electrical power.
Core : The cores of the transformer are made by cutting thin sheets of silicon steel. Each seat is coated with a fine varnish, which acts as insulation, keeping them separate from each other. Several cores are joined together to form a frame. This frame is the magnetic circuit between the primary and secondary coils. Works as.
Conservator tank : A small tank is used to cool the hot oil inside the transformer, it is called the conservator tank. The hot oil evaporates and accumulates in the conservator tank and when it cools down, it returns to the transformer. This work is basically done by the conservator tank.
Buchholz relay : If the transformer is overheated or short circuited for any reason, it automatically shuts down the transformer. Buchholz relay protects the transformer in all situations.
Insulation oil : To keep the transformer cool, the core and coil are immersed in a special oil that acts as insulation as well as cooling the transformer.
Silica gel : Silica gel is used to absorb the aqueous solution mixed with the air during inhalation with the breather. As a result clean air enters inside the transformer.
Breather : The function of the breather is to let the hot air out of the transformer and bring the cold air from outside into the transformer.
